Engine derails, rail traffic affected Kurnool, Dec 16 (INN): Rail traffic on Secunderabad-Guntakal section, which was affected due to derailment of a light engine at Kurnool Town Station in the early hours of Thursday, was restored to normal by about 10 AM. The derailment of a light engine (without bogies) at Kurnool station yard on Hyderabad Division, the SCR rescheduled some of the trains. Accordingly, the trains diverted via Gooty, Guntakal, Halkata, Vikarabad and Secunderabad are Chennai-Egmore-Kacheguda express and Yaswantapur-H Nizamuddin Express.
The trains totally cancelled are Kurnool Town-Secunderabad passenger, Secunderabad-Vikarabad-Secunderabad passenger, Secunderabad-Medchal-Secunderabad local trains and Secunderabad-Mahaboobnagar passenger. The trains partially cancelled are Guntakal-Kurnool Town Passenger between Dupadu and Kurnool Town and Kurnool Town and Guntakal Passenger between Kurnool Town and Dupadu.
The trains rescheduled are Kacheguda-Chennai Egmore Express scheduled to leave Kacheguda at 4.00 PM on December 16, is rescheduled to leave at 8.30 PM, Kacheguda-Bangalore City Express scheduled to leave Kacheguda at 7.05 PM is rescheduled to leave at 9.30 PM and Kacheguda-Chittoor Venkatadri Express scheduled to leave Kacheguda at 8.05 PM is rescheduled to leave at 10.00 PM. The derailed engine has been re-railed and the track was restored on Thursday. The TRC has made special bus services to shift the passengers from the train. Following the derailment, the trains are running six hours behind schedule.
