Jagan supporters disrupt Rachabanda Rajahmundry, January 28: Supporters of former Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy on Friday disrupted proceedings of Rachabanda programme at two places here. Jakkampudi Vijayalakshmi, wife of former minister Jakkampudi Rammohana Rao, and her son Raja, who joined Jagan faction recently, created a flutter at Satellite City on the outskirts of Rajahmundry during Rachabanda. MLCs Kandula Durgesh and B. Indira participated in the programme in the morning.
When Koteswara Rao, Additional Director of the Animal and Husbandry and special officer for Rachabanda, started reading out the names of beneficiaries who have been sanctioned houses and pensions, a section of gathering raising slogans moved towards the dais. Mrs. Vijayalakshmi suddenly entered the scene and started arguing with Mr. Durgesh and others on the dais. Some youths led by Mr Raja allegedly tried to snatch mikes from the officials. There was commotion and slogan shouting all around and police, who were in good number, rushed to dais to the rescue of MLCs.
Most of the people alleged the title deeds were not given to those, who were sanctioned houses in the first phase. Mr. Durgesh tried to pacify the agitators but in vain. Amid chaos Mrs. Vijayalakshmi snatched mike from the MLC and made allegations against the administration and the government, which were later refuted by the MLC. Similar scenes were witnessed at Pidingoyyie gram panchayat in the afternoon. However, normalcy was restored there within 15 minutes and meeting went off peacefully. Mr. Durgesh, who is also City Congress president, asked the media persons not to magnify the incidents.
