'Jagan to win bypolls with huge margin'
Kadapa: YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy will win the forthcoming Kadapa Lok Sabha byelections with a majority of about five lakh votes, going by a survey conducted by Nielsen Marg in the LS segment, former Kadapa Mayor P. Raveendranatha Reddy asserted on Friday.
Addressing YSR Congress functionaries after hoisting the party flag and garlanding the YSR statue near Kadapa Collectorate as part of 'Jenda panduga' programme, Mr. Reddy said that YSR Congress won three MLC seats withstanding the onslaught of 126-year-old Congress and 39-year-old Telugu Desam Party; which had colluded to counter Jagan, but failed.
YSR showed how the government can ensure people's welfare in a committed manner and Jagan would follow his father in the true spirit, he asserted. Mr. Raveendranatha Reddy called upon party men to hoist YSR Congress flags in all mandal headquarters and villages on Saturday and Sunday.
YSR implemented innovative developmental and welfare schemes, which no government had thought of, but the successive Rosaiah and Kiran Kumar Reddy governments almost shelved irrigation projects and other welfare schemes, he alleged. The situation in the State was gloomy after YSR's demise and the administration was paralysed. The only way the State can be saved was if Jagan became the Chief Minister, he said.
YSR Congress would gain power in the next general elections and would restore YSR's golden rule, former DCC president K. Suresh Babu asserted. YSR's schemes which were almost shelved now made the lives of the poor miserable, he said.
Minorities would rally behind YSR Congress as YSR granted them four per cent reservation and fee reimbursement for minority students, enabling them to pursue professional courses, he said.
Mr. Amjad Basha lambasted Minister for Minorities Welfare Mohd. Ahmedulla and accused him of failing to strive for minorities' welfare. Former PCC Secretary T. Sivasankar alleged a conspiracy behind the helicopter crash that claimed YSR's life.
