Thieves strike at teacher's residence Prakasam, May 3 (INN): Unidentified persons broke into the residence of a school teacher and managed to flee with property about Rs 2.5 lakh, at Jawahar Nagar, Markapur in Prakasam district, late on Monday night.
According to Sub-Inspector Krishna Reddy, the thieves broke into the house by removing the latches on the back door with the help of screwdrivers while house owner Naru Ramchandra Reddy (50) and his wife Shailaja were sleeping.
Mr Mr Ramchandra Reddy, a teacher in the Zilla Parishad High School in Rayavaram, told police that the thieves threatened him and his wife when they woke up. They were armed with knives, the school teacher told police.
Mr Ramchandra Reddy filed a complaint that the miscreants managed to flee with gold ornaments worth Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 5000 in cash. According to the school teacher, the gang may have been made up of seven members. The police are looking for clues which may lead them to the miscreants. A case has been registered and efforts are on to trace the culprits.
