3 killed as car rams into Janmabhoomi Express Guntur, May 4 (INN): At least three persons have killed and another 10 left injured when a speeding car dashed against the engine of Janmabhoomi Express at an unmanned level crossing at Kondrapole, Dameracherla Mandal in Nalgonda district on Wednesday morning.
The condition of three of the 10 injured is stated to be critical. According to inspector Ramesh Babu, the impact left Jyothy (18) and Bhargavi (12) dead on the spot. Another victim, Gowri (21) succumbed to her injuries while being shifted to hospital.
The mishap occurred when the car, in which 13 persons were travelling rammed into the rear portion of the Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam Janmabhoomi Express at the unmanned level crossing between Kondrapole and Vishnupuram of Pagidipalli-Nadikudi section of Guntur Division.
It is believed that car was proceeding towards Jangoan village in Warangal. The occupants were due to attend a marriage function and were coming from Ongole in Prakasam district.
Police reached the spot on getting information and shifted the victims to the Miryalguda Government Hospital for treatment and autopsies. Doctors said that while three of the injured are in a critical condition, the rest of the passengers received minor injuries.
Guntur Divisional Railway Manager, along with other officials rushed to the spot and inspected the site of the crash. The SCR said that there was no disruption of train traffic in the section due to the mishap. A case has been registered and further investigations are going on.
