Armed Forces Flag Day Celebrations on December 5th Ongole, December 4. The Prakasm District Collector G.S.R.K.R. Vijay Kumar has extended his greetings to the brave men and women of the Defence forces, war veterans and their widows, disabled soldiers, ex-servicemen and their families on the occassion of Armed Forces Flag Day which is being observed on December 5.
The annual event is intended to commemorate the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces personnel in protecting the territorial integrity of the country.
The Prakasam District Collector G.S.R.K.R Vijay Kumar asked people to make generous donations for the Flag Day fund by accepting Flag Day stickers and car flags.
The fund is used for rehabilitation of the war veterans, their widows, disabled soldiers, ex-servicemen and their families, marriages, monthly assistance to non pensioner ex-servicemen, education scholarship, hostel charges, legal assistance, spot assistance, and funeral grant. NCC students are coming to different places of the city to collect donations
The district collectorate released a pressnote here on Thursday that many had not registered their names with the Sainik Welfare Department after their retirement. To create awareness the department had launched an extensive campaign.
Moreover, he appealed to the people of Prakasam district to contribute generously to the Armed Foces Flag Day Fund as a tribute to their gallantry and sacrifice.
