AAI seeks land in Donakonda for airport Ongole, January 2. The Airports Authority of India has asked
the Andhrapradesh state government to allot land for development of airport in Donakonda of Prakasam district and assured that they will set up airport within 10 months.
AAI has chalked out an ambitious plan for the development of Donakonda airport and they discussed about the issue with government higher officials and local political leaders over the land allotment for the airport.
Earlier, a high level team of AAI authorities had inspected the airport which was built during the World War II at Donakonda in Prakasam district.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu during his recent visit to Kondepi assured that the government would take steps to set up airport at Donakonda for the convenience of the entreprenueurs who set up industrial units.
AAI is looking to have at least 350 acres of land is required. The revenue officials informed that about 45000 acres barren land is available in Donakonda. There would be no land problem for establishing airport in Donakonda.
Though the officials already inspected 136 acre land in survey number 14 and conducted a feasibility test.
