Lord Venkateswara - Sri Bhoga Sreenivasa Murthy observed
Tirumala, May 30: The Avatarotsavam of the silver icon Lord Venkateswara-Sri Bhoga Sreenivasa Murthy has been observed religious fervour in the hill shrine on Saturday with special Sahasra kalasabhishekam.
Every year in the month of Jyeshta, in Krishna Paksham, on the auspicious day of Chavithi, in the advent of Sravana Nakshatram, TTD performs Special Sahasra Kalasabhishekam to Bhoga Srinivasamurthy.
On this day in the year 614 A.D., the Pallava queen Samavai Perindevi donated one and a half feet tall Bhoga Srinivasa Murthy silver idol to Tirumala Shrine. The related inscription can be seen on the wall below Vimana Venkateswara Shrine in the first Prakaram. This silver idol is part of the Pancha beras and this is known as 'kautuka murthy' in Agamic terminology.
In commemoration of this special donation by the famous queen, TTD performs Special Sahasra Kalasabhishekam to Bhoga Srinivasa Murthy in Ekantham between 6am to 8am. The daily rituals will follow after the completion of this special sahasra kalasabhishekam.
As a part of this celestial fete after the first bell, the silver icon Bhoga Srinivas Murthy was brought outside the Golden doorway and connected by means of thin silk rope with the Mula Virat inside the Garbhalayam (sanctum). One end of the rope is tied round the feet of the Bhoga Srinivasa Murthy while the other end is placed near the Kathithasta of the Mula Virat, thus symbolically establishing a relationship between the Main deity and the Bhoga Srinivas Murthy to achieve two purposes.
This clearly indicates that Bhoga Srinivasa is representing the Mula Virat and it makes clear that the Pooja offered to the Bhoga Srinivasa Murthy is nothing but the puja was assumed to have been offered to the main deity only.
Sri Malayappa Swamy with his two consorts Goddess Bhudevi and Sridevi were also brought from the Sanctum and placed outside the Bangaru Vakili. The idol of Viswaksena brought from the sanctum was placed outside the Bangaru Vakili.
One Thousand Silver Vessels filled with Abhisheka Thirtha otherwise known as the 'Parimala Teertham'-pure water with the aroma of sandal paste, along with eight more Parivara Vessels and One Gold vessel filled with water were placed in the Mantapam in front of Bangaru Vakili. The archakas recite Pancha Suktas and the Pancha Shanthi Mantras.
Thirumanjana Abhishekam is offered to Sri Bhoga Srinivasa Murthy, Sri Malayappa Swami and his consorts and Viswaksenula varu with the water in the 1008 Kalasas. At the conclusion of the Tirumanjanam, the water in the Golden Vessel alone circumambulating Vimanam Prakaram, Dhwajasthambham and taken inside the sanctum sanctorum.
Then Archana was offered to the main deity and the water from the Golden Vessel is sprinkled on the Feet of the main deity, thus symbolically including the Mula Virat(main deity) also in the Special Sahasra Kalasabhishekam.
TTD Executive Officer Dr D Sambasiva Rao, Tirumala JEO Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju, CVSO Sri G Nagendra Kumar, Trust Board Member Dr Hariprasad, Temple DeputyEO (I/C) Sri Venugopal, Temple Peishkar Sri Selvam and others were also present.
Later arjitha sevas including Kalyanotsavam, Unjal Seva, Arjitha Brahmotsavam, Vasanthotsavam and Sahasra Deepalankara Seva took place as usual.
