Don't blame hero Surya for 'Masss' poster Tamil star hero Surya's upcoming film Masss first look has been released on the special eve of Diwali. The poster of 'Masss', which features Suriya, shows a photographic portrait of the actor's face.
But very soon, the buzz stated in the film circles that the poster found to have a striking similarity with that of Hollywood flick The Bourne Ultimatum. Many started blaming Surya and director Venkat Prabhu for lifting the poster from Hollywood flicks. The debate turns heat and some of anti fans of Surya started calling him as copycat.
The film director Venkat Prabhu offered clarification on the allegations and said that the poster was shot using a popular style called mugshot, which has been used by several Hollywood films. Prabhu also posted the posters of some English films such as 'The Grey' and 'Salt' that have used the mugshot.
He wrote 'Much to the excitement of Suriya fans, the team 'Masss' has released a first look poster last night as a part of their promotion for Diwali. The picture went viral the moment it got released and started to trend across the social networking sites. But, a section of the audiences started to cut it as a copy of a famous Hollywood movie and spread negative messages.
Well, to clarify all the doubters and those who claim it as a copy, here we go! This is a style called, mug shot, which is a unique genre, and many Hollywood movies have released pictures under this style. So, we suggest the fans of Tamil Cinema to take a deep look before coloring anything as a copy'.
