In fact, the obedience works both ways in the contemporary Indian society? The wife should respect the husband, but at the same time even the Husband is expected to respect her - it's mutual. After all, each one of them shares 50% of the Burdens, Powers and Sins?

It is nothing but male chaunism It is a pity that a woman writes like this.
Also the husband simply can abandon the wife with a talaak and leave to her fate.
In hinduism also the wife should be odedient to husband and also in-laws ( mother-in-law and father-in-law) but at the same time the husband can not abandon without sufficient cause ( like madness etc )
