Hyderabad: Monica Bedi, starlet and wife of underworld don Abu Salem, was Saturday remanded in judicial custody till Nov 25 by a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court here in connection with a passport forgery case.
Amid high drama and tight security, Bedi was produced before a judge of a CBI court at his residence in Secunderabad. On CBI's request, judge Subrahmanyam remanded her in judicial custody for two weeks.
The judge also directed that she be produced in the court on Monday for hearing on her bail application. Bedi was later sent to Chanchalguda Central Jail here amid tight security.
After hours of suspense on when and where she would be produced, CBI officials brought her to the residence of the judge as courts were closed on account of holiday.
Earlier, CBI sleuths grilled her at the CBI regional office, where she was lodged after being brought from Mumbai Friday night.
