Karimnagar to host
NATIONAL DOCUMENTARY,
SHORT FILM FEST
In Feb.2007
Karimnagar Film Society (KFS), which has been fulfilling the desires of the cine-lovers by screening national and international movies and documentaries for the past thirty years, is going to organize a national short and documentary film festival from February 23 to 25 here for the first time.
To be a non-competitive edition, the three day festival would feature documentaries and short films of the famous directors. Renowned directors like Anand Patwardhan (Hindi), B Narsinga Rao (Telugu), Amudan (Tamil), K N T Shastri (Telugu) and Salim Baig (Hindi) had already consented to send their films to the festival.
Karimnagar Film Society President Varala Anand, who penned many books on Indian Cinema, said they are conducting the film festival to fulfill the desires of film-lovers. The festival would become the First National Level Film Festival to be conducted in a small town like Karimnagar, he added.
KFS is the first Society to have an auditorium on its own premises in the state and have all the required infrastructure to screen films.
Being an affiliated society to the Federation of Film Societies of India (FFSI), KFS has also got a hand from it to organize the festival.
Confirming the participation of the directors from across the country in the festival, Varala Anand has urged the enthusiastic directors of the documentaries and short films to send their films to the festival to make it a big success. Directors, Producers and Distributors can contact him at varalaanand@yahoo.com or make a call to 9440501281; plans are afoot to conduct a workshop on documentary and short film direction and production.
