As a Chief Justice of India :
· What strategic and institutional changes have been brought out?
· What is the status of pending cases in various courts of law and what is the progress year on year?
· What efforts are made to strengthen the delivery of judicial services?
· What plans are implemented to reduce the gap between filing and giving final verdict.
· What schemes are designed and implemented to instill faith in the judicial system among the people.
· What is the speed achieved in finalizing the cases involving public servants, politicians and ministers?
· Where is the CJI’s Performance Report?
If one visits the websites of various governments there are email ids to which people can send their representations and share their views, issues and seek help. But to my surprose 99% of these websites have got email ids that are not at all active. Does it not suffice to say that websites are not meant for serving the people but show case the people at the helm of affairs? If a common man sends an email to CM on some important issue that bothers him if he does not get any response, should we not call it as gross inhuman way of managing the websites by the government and insulting the common man using them.
Here comes the role of CAG
· You will find in the website of CAG that several govts have failed to comply with the directions and audit notes given by the CAG and so much public money is wasted on various accounts in the country. No responsibility is fixed for this ruthless wastage of money. Why CAG is not penalizing the concerned authorities?
· When a common man is punished and penalized for not paying the power bills, MLAs and MPs are exempted from many like staying on illegally in the govt accommodation freely, etc. What is the CAG doing in these cases?
Indian cannot afford to have positions that do not add any value. It is essential that the constitutional positions shall be redefined. In the wake of the current presidential poll, it is essential to start this debate and urge the ruling party at the center to do the needful at the earliest. No more can we accept the continuation of using positions like President, Governor as political rehabilitation centers.
