We shall introduce Special e-seva at the doorstep of those senior citizens who wish to live on their own as long as they are fit. This facility helps them pay their power bill, electricity bill, house tax and all other bills to be paid.
We shall have Senior Citizen friendly departmental stores, medical stores, medical services that can provide services at their doorstep. Today we find many Senior Citizens waiting for hours to get their blood tested before breakfast and after the breakfast in cities. If the facility is far away from their house, they need to bear the cost of auto fare, they eat out and get every thing completed and then return. This is the practice of many and this is only a sample incident. We can imagine the plight of those senior citizens living in the villages.
There shall be special seats for Senior Citizens in all the public transport systems.
All the senior citizens shall be issued a unique Id card the moment they cross 60 years. This card shall help them in all the transactions.
The govt shall give protection to those Senior Citizens living alone by educating them of the facilities they can avail. As most Senior Citizens in this country are illiterates, the civic bodies – right from the village panchayat – shall give them leaflets or information booklets that give them details of phone numbers etc, in case of emergency. The 108 like service for them is the need of the hour!
