Rs. 282 Cr to be spent on Secunderabad Rly Stn Hyderabad, Feb 9 (INN):Secunderabad Railway Station is amongst the 23 Stations on Indian Railways which have been taken up under Station Redevlopment Program launched by Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu. Vijayawada is the other station from SCR in the list of 23 Railway Stations where the program has been taken up, in the first phase.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, SCR General Manager Vinod Kumar Yadav stated that the idea behind this ambitious program is to develop 400 stations on Indian Railways to International standards, out of which 23 have been taken up, to be followed by the remaining stations in subsequent phases. He went on to state that the estimated investment for development of Passenger amenities at Secunderabad Railway station under the Re-development project is Rs. 282 Crore, while for Vijayawada it is Rs. 194 Crore. The Revenue generated in the project will be used exclusively for Station Re-development.
Vinod Kumar Yadav, stated that the project is being undertaken under a Modified Swiss Challenge method, adapting the QCBS (Quality and Cost Based Solution) system by identifying a project proponent who will prepare the detailed project report. The project will seek to involve State Governments, various Central Government wings, Global experts etc., he added. The General Manager also briefed the media on the salient features indicative amenities, additional amenities and the technical aspects of the bidding process of the Station Re-development project.
