CM meets Antony, Moily and Azad New Delhi, May 16 (INN): Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Thursday called on Union Defence Minister AK Antony and Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Veerappa Moily. He also met the Union Minister for Health and State in-charge Gulam Nabi Azad, Minister of state (Independent Charge) for Power Jyotiraditya Sindia.
The Chief Minister requested Jyotiraditya Scindia to complete the National Grid connectivity by January 2014. Since, the regional transmission links a part of national grid is an important and an urgent necessity, he also explained the power position in the State and necessity of completing national connectivity at the earliest in solving the power shortage in the State.
Kiran Kumar Reddy, who met Veerappa Moily, requested him to release sufficient coal to produce 500 MW power from NTPC coal-based power units. He also urged the minister to release sufficient gas to Andhra Pradesh for optimum utilization of gas-based power generation plants.
Later, the Chief Minister met Antony, who is also the Chairman of EGOM and requested to convene the meeting of the Ministers by this month to finalise the gas allocation to the States.
While speaking to the media, Jyotiraditya Scindia said that the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh has explained about the power position in the State and requested him to allocate extra coal and gas to the State. In response to the request, he said that these issues are under the active consideration and national grid connectivity will be completed before next year's allocation.
