Five pilgrims killed as car turns turtle Rajahmundry, Nov 2 (INN): In a major road accident, at least five members of a family on pilgrimage were killed on the spot and two children received injuries in the wee hours of Tuesday at Burrilanka village, Kadiam mandal in East Godavari district. According to Rajahmundry Rural Inspector Ambika Prasad, the mishap occurred when the car in which the pilgrims were travelling went out of control, hit an embankment of a canal and overturned. Mr Ambika Prasad revealed that Tatibandla Srinivas Rao (31) along with his brother Tatibandla Kesava Rao (30) had left from Ibrahimpatnam mandal in Krishna district for a pilgrimage to Satyanarayana Swamy temple in Annavaram.
The brothers had taken their families including Tatibandla Laxmi (27), Tatibandla Vani (26) and Tatibandla Pravalika (5) T Sai Krishna (8) and Anu Deepthi (5) for the pilgrimage. The mishap occurred on the National Highway No 5, near Burrilanka village when their Indica car hit the spot and toppled over at a high speed. T Sai Krishna and Anu Deepti survived the crash while the others died on the spot. The police reached the spot and shifted the victims to Rajahmundry Government Hospital with the help of 108 Ambulance. Later police men have registered a case and took up further investigations.
