Govt to regularize nurses' service, stir called off Warangal, Dec 6 (INN): The contract nurses at Mahatma Gandhi Medical Hospital, who launched agitation for second time demanding regularization of services, on Monday withdraw their agitation following the assurance given by officials that their services would be regularized. In-charge Collector V Karuna and other officials held talks with agitating nurses' representatives in the presence of MLA Vinay Bhaskar and MLC Pulla Padmavathi. The government said that it was committed to fulfill all demands of nurses and assured that it would lift all police cases against the protestors. Following this assurance, the nurses withdraw their agitation.
Earlier, some nurses climbed up an overhead water tank and threatened to jump to death if the government failed to solve their demand forthwith. As part of the agreement, the government also deferred the ANM examination scheduled to be held on December 12, for one week. The nurses also set a deadline of December 19 for government to regularize their services. If the government failed to fulfill their demands, the nurses would intensify their agitation across the state, they warned.
