Ill health forces constable to end life Guntur, Dec 29 (INN): Suspected ill health is believed to be the reason behind a police constable committing suicide in a lodge in Guntur district on Wednesday. According to Inspector Sitaramaiah, P Koteswara Rao a DCRB police constable took the extreme step of hanging himself by a rope from the ceiling fan. Mr Sitaramaiah told INN that Koteswara Rao had earlier worked as a police constable in Peddakakani police station but had requested day duties due to ill health problems. He was transferred to the DCRB on his request by his higher officials.
He had suffering from various ailments since the past two years. Koteswara Rao had gone on sick leave since the past three months, further weakening his financial position. Koteswara Rao's suicide was discovered after the management of Aditya Lodge complained that there was no response from inside the room of the lodge even after repeated knockings. The police reached the spot and broke open the door to discover the gory sight of their colleague hanging from the ceiling fan. Policemen suspect that Mr Koteswara Rao has taken the drastic step as he mentally disturbed by his ill health and financial problems. A case has been registered and the body shifted to hospital for autopsy.
