Botsa confident of Congress victory in by-polls
Hyderabad, May 4 (INN): Expressing confidence over winning the ensuing by-elections with a huge majority, Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana on Friday stated that the High Command would announce the final list of aspirants in a day or two.
Talking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, Botsa Satyanarayana said that Congress president Sonia Gandhi has to give her approval for the aspirants list.
'After Sonia Gandhi's approval, the list will be announced,' he stated while adding that there might be some changes in candidates, if Sonia Gandhi suggests the same.
Botsa said that the party would go for the by-election campaign with the government welfare schemes and programmes launched for poor and backward class sections and development works taken up in the constituencies.
Stating that he has discussed the issue of party leaders trading charges against each other in public, the PCC chief said that the leaders had assured him that they would never make public statements and raise their issues in the party forum.
Responding to a question on 'cohorts' in the party, he said that every party has some 'cohorts' to get information and activities of other parties.
Botsa criticized Kadapa MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for spoiling the name of former chief minister and his father YS Rajasekhara Reddy by unnecessarily dragging him in the controversies.
Stating that Jagan might be the legal heir for YSR's properties, he said that YSR would always remain an asset of the Congress party.
Responding to allegation of Warangal District Congress Committee president Gandra Venkataramana Reddy that he was not informed over joining of S Samma Rao from Telugu Desam Party, he said that the PCC has provided prior information to him.
However, he did not attend the programme as he was pre-occupied with other works, he stated.
Botsa said that the PCC media committee would convene press conferences daily at Gandhi Bhavan to effectively tackle the opposition's criticism against the government and party.
