Naidu turns pro-farmer, offers package Nellore, May 16 (INN): Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday promised that his party would announce special package for farmers if it comes to power in the next general elections.
Participating in the election campaign at Cheruvupalle village in Marripadu mandal in Nellore district, Naidu slammed the State Government for its failure to rescue the farmers, who are in dire straits due to government's indifferent attitude and officials' apathy.
Accusing that Kiran Kumar Reddy Government has failed on all fronts, Naidu expressed serious concern over the farmers problems. Naidu criticized the government for its failure to provide minimum support price for farm produce, which forced the farmers to declare 'Crop Holiday' in coastal Andhra Pradesh.
He said that his government would announce MSP for farm produce of all important crops and provide all assistance to farmers in continuing agriculture profession with dignity.
Naidu said that he would mount pressure on the Union government to implement M S Swaminathan Committee's recommendation for the welfare of farmers. Earlier, Naidu visited Tobacco Auction Centre and interacted with the farmers about their problems.
