Telangana not possible now: Lagadapati Tirumala: Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal claimed that there was no possibility of Telangana State formation now and that the parties that were rousing people's passions by propagating animosity among them were losing popular support.
Speaking to press persons after having a 'darshan' of Lord Venkateswara along with family members, who have come here to attend the marriage of his nephew, the MP supported the comments of the party's spokesman PC Chako on Telangana.
Rajagopal contended that the Centre had made the December 9, 2009 announcement on Telangana after all parties had extended their support.
Yet it wanted the State Assembly to adopt a resolution on the State formation.
But after some parties developed differences over Samaikhya Andhra and the people had taken up a struggle in support of a unified State, the Centre had come to the conclusion that unanimity on the issue was necessary, he said.
The MP pointed out that the people now wanted a unified State. Their view would be reflected in the ensuing election results. He claimed the parties rousing people's separatist sentiments had lost support as none was willing to go with them.
He observed that the people were aware of the monetary gains of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) leaders. It was an 'open secret' how they had 'resorted to loot of public wealth' in the name of separatist agitation.
