Jagan wants local body polls to prove his stamina HYDERABAD: The YSR Congress Party, which registered back-to-back victories in a series of by-polls held in the State since 2009 general elections, seems to have chalked out a unique strategy to win majority number of seats in the ensuing local body elections.
The party has decided to entrust the responsibility of ensuring its victory in the local body elections on the shoulders of party leaders at Assembly constituency and district level.
To bolster up the morale of the party leaders, the YSRCP had announced that it would give party tickets to contest in Assembly and Lok Sabha elections only to leaders who ensure victory of the party in maximum number of seats in their respective constituencies in the local body polls.
The decision to entrust the responsibility of ensuring party's grassroots victory on its leaders was taken during the extended meeting of the YSRCP held in the City recently.
The top leadership of the party strongly feels that the new strategy mooted by the party leaders would not only help it in uniting all party leaders by keeping their differences aside but also force them to strive for the victory of the party in the local body polls.
Leadership confirmed the move. 'Since the formation of our party, we have been dominant force in the state's political scene in AP. We want to continue this momentum during the local body polls too.
Keeping this in mind, we have entrusted the responsibility of ensuring party's victory on all party leaders,' YSRCP senior leader Bajireddy Govardhan told.
He said that the strategy of the party would also help in consolidating its position in the State before the next Assembly elections.
'As a new party, we witnessed a huge influx of fresh and experienced leaders in our party. There is a strong need for all these leaders to join hands and work together in ensuring the victory of the party in the very crucial local body polls. Our strategy is aimed towards this direction,' he noted.
