Lagadapati backs Sabitha, Dharmana HYDERABAD: Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal came in defence of tainted ministers P Sabitha Indra Reddy and Dharmana Prasada Rao.
'They have not done anything wrong. The GOs they had issued were in pursuance of Cabinet decisions and were issued in good faith. If someone benefited because of them, how could one find fault with the ministers?' he asked.
As regards allotment of limestone mining leases in the state, he said there would be no role for a mining minister in transfer of lease from one company to another. The GOs issued granting mining lease and transfer of lease were normal and routine in nature and there was no role of the minister concerned, he said.
Rajagopal rubbished the allegation that the CBI was taking instructions from the Congress. He said if that was the case, the CBI would not be registering cases against Congress leaders, he pointed out.
Rajagopal further stated that Dharmana Prasada Rao and Sabita Indra Reddy were innocent. YSRC chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was the culprit, he said and opined that the CBI included the names of the two ministers in the chargesheet in haste.
Perhaps, the CBI, which was under pressure to file the chargesheet within time, might have included the names of the ministers, he felt.
As the son of the then chief minister, Jagan wanted the industrialists to invest in his companies. It was the fault of Jagan and the ministers were in no way concerned with it, the Vijayawada MP said.
He said he studied the GOs issued by Dharmana and Sabitha and found that there were no irregularities. The two ministers never asked the industrialists to invest either in their companies or their sons' companies after issuing the GOs, he said.
The decision on the resignations would be taken by the chief minister. However, the two ministers became culprits in the peoples' court without their mistake, he said. He found fault with opposition leader N Chandrababu Naidu for demanding the resignation of the ministers.
