Vijayamma asks YSRC cadre to gear up for polls VIZINAGARAM: In a clear indication to her party cadre to gear up for the local body elections, YSR Congress honorary president YS Vijayalakshmi on Sunday made a fervent appeal to the party activists to work for the party's victory to strengthen it at the grassroots level.
She warned the leaders to set aside their personal differences and work for the party's success in the local body elections which was important for its future course of action.
Addressing the party leaders and activists at the North Coastal Andhra regional meet at Vizianagaram on Sunday, Vijayalakshmi wanted all party members to contribute to the victory of the party in local body pools.
She suspected that the Congress and TDP would come to an understanding to defeat YSRC in the local body elections. Vijayalakshmi warned the cadre not to be over-confident about winning the polls.
'Just because Jaganmohan Reddy and the YSRC enjoy good image among the public, we cannot relax. The Congress is the ruling party and if some members in the administration help it, can grab most of the seats. We need to be cautious as both Congress and TDP are hands in glove to mar our winning chances,' she said.
The YSRC honorary president alleged that the state government has failed to continue the novel initiatives of former chief minister late YS Rajasekhara Reddy. None of the programmes like '108' or '104' is working properly. Similarly, farmers are suffering due to indifference meted out by the government towards them.
'While the ruling Congress has failed to empathise with the farmers, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu has termed agriculture as a wasteful exercise. The government, which claims to be farmer-friendly, should explain what it has done for the welfare of farmers,'' she added.
Vijayalakshmi is learnt to have said that Jagan is being victimised by the Congress party for acting as per the wishes of the public.
Interestingly, several senior leaders of the party including Sabbam Hari, Konatala Ramakrishna, Chengala Venkata Rao and Golla Babu Rao did not attend the meeting.
Inquiries revealed that Konathala Ramakrishna could not attend the meet following the death of his uncle while Sabbam Hari is known to skip such party meetings. However, senior leader Dadi Veerabhadra Rao attended the meeting.
