Anantapur cops act a la Gabbar Singh Anantapur: The One Town police caught a gang of kidnappers, who had allegedly planned to kill one Ganesh of Sangareddy in Medak district. The police paraded the members in the Old Town Gandhi Circle.
Their action was hailed by the people, some of whom even carried the policemen on their shoulders. One Town CI Gorantla Madhav, who beat up the gang members in full view of the public, forced them to take a pledge that they would not repeat such mistakes.
Ganesh thanked the police for saving his life. Madhav and SI Zakir were bodily lifted by the crowd in appreciation of their action.
According to the police, Ganesh had pledged his car with one Hanumanth Reddy from Anantapur and took a loan of Rs.1.5 lakh. He returned the amount after a month, but Reddy declined to return the vehicle. Reddy, with the help of some politicians and several rowdy elements, organised a `panchayat' to settle the issue.
With the help of a `rowdysheeter' Jaganmohan of Anantapur and four others, he kidnapped Ganesh. On receipt of news, the police threw a massive dragnet.
The gang members were caught by a highway patrolling party. The police grew suspicious after watching the gang beat up Ganesh in their vehicle and pursued them.
