Three elite women vie for Araku Lok Sabha seat Visakhapatnam: Araku Valley: Three highly educated women, including a doctor and a former sub-collector, are getting ready to enter electoral battle in the coming Lok Sabha elections.
They are eyeing prestigious seats covering like agency areas spread over Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam and East Godavari districts.
The three, among them a tribal, represent Congress, Telugu Desam and YSR Congress, are likely to face a formidable opponent in Union Minister Kishore Chandra Deo. They have already launched their poll campaigns.
Among the three women candidates is Shobha Swati Rani, daughter of former TDP legislator Shobha Hymavati. She is a doctor. Hymavati is said to be encouraging Swati Rani, after the AP High Court ruled her ineligible as she is not a tribal, although married to one.
Kothapalli Geeta, a former Sub-collector is in the midst of a massive campaign as YSRCP candidate. She had become a bank manager at the young age of 19 years. Later she worked as sub-collector. Geeta quit the post to join the poll fray.
Kishore Chandra Deo is said to be contemplating to field his daughter, Vyricharla Shruti Devi, as there is speculation that the constituency is likely to be reserved for women. Shruti Devi is a practising advocate in the Supreme Court. She stays in New Delhi along with Deo.
