JC upset over TDP ticket denial to his aide HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam continues to face a rebellion of sorts from its local leaders in several constituencies which have been left to to the BJP to contest from as part of an electoral alliance between the two parties in Seemandhra.
The latest to join the list of dissenters is veteran politico and former minister JC Diwakar Reddy who has joined the TDP recently.
He is unhappy at the way the TDP leadership has allotted the Guntakal Assembly constituency in his native Anantapur district to the saffron party without considering his suggestion.
He wanted Madhusudan Gupta, the sitting MLA from Guntakal, to be renominated on TDP ticket from the same segment. Despite this, the TDP leadership allotted the Guntakal seat to the BJP. Following this, Diwakar is very much upset.
According to sources, Reddy called up Rajya Sabha member CM Ramesh, who is looking after the issue of seat-sharing with the BJP, the other day and expressed his resentment over allocation of Guntakal seat to the BJP which might even affect his very chances of winning the Anantapur LS seat.
The TDP leadership had earlier wanted to leave the Anantapur Assembly seat to the BJP but Diwakar objected to it. Then the party left the Guntakal seat, instead of the Anantapur, to the BJP.
Meanwhile, party leaders in several constituencies which have been left to the BJP continue to raise their voice against their party leadership's decision.
TDP MLA from Kaikalur, Jayamangala Venkata Ramana, is not ready to accept his party's decision and is planning to contest as an independent. Several other TDP leaders and workers in Narasaraopeta, Tadepalligudem, Santhanuthalapadu and Vijayawada West continue to stage protests disapproving of their party leadership's decision of allotting those seats to the BJP.
