Two Congress nominees opt out of poll race HYDERABAD: With the Congress party's chances of winning the ensuing polls in Seemandhra appear bleak, some of its nominees have started pulling out of the electoral race, probably to save money and embarrassment.
Former minister Kasu Venkata Krishna Reddy's son Mahesh Reddy on Wednesday announced he had decided not to contest and so would not be filing his papers for Narsaraopet Assembly segment.
His decision came two days after his father Krishna Reddy expressed his anger at not being taken into confidence while selecting candidates for Assembly segments under Narsaraopet Lok Sabha constituency, from where he has been fielded.
Similarly, Kandru Kamala, party candidate for Mangalagiri Assembly segment in the same Guntur district, also decided to back out of the race.
Meanwhile, the AICC leadership has released its second list of candidates for one Lok Sabha and 28 Assembly segments in Seemandhra on Wednesday evening. Former minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy is fielded from Atmakur Assembly segment in Nellore district.
