Harish slams Jana, Ponnala for baseless allegations HYDERABAD: 'Let us not indulge in politics and unite for the overall development of Telangana,' irrigation minister T Harish Rao called upon the opposition parties.
Speaking to mediapersons at the Telangana Bhavan here on Tuesday, the minister advised opposition leaders, especially K Jana Reddy and TPCC chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah, to speak of developing the state rather than criticising each other.
'If the opposition makes concrete suggestions, the TRS government is ready to implement them, Harish said and found fault with Jana Reddy and Ponnala for making baseless allegations against the TRS government.
The irrigation minister wondered if the Congress had implemented any assurances listed in their manifesto. 'The TRS has already implemented majority of assurances by the second Cabinet meeting,' he said and blamed the previous Congress rule for power shortage in Telangana.
The Congress failed to operationalise any major power plants in the state, he alleged. 'When leaders from Andhra Pradesh shifted power plants to Kadapa, Vijayawada and other places, why did Telangana Congress leaders like Jana Reddy and Ponnala remain silent?' Harish questioned and added that the Congress leaders were blaming the TRS government for power shortage without realising this fact.
Immediately after the formation of the government, we tried to purchase power from other states and also planned to set up new power plants in the state, the minister explained and added that the government was exploring other options like generating solar and wind power.
The Telangana Congress is facing internal problems and there is a fight for leadership, he said and added 'To gain the upper hand within the party, Jana Reddy is levelling baseless allegations against the TRS government.' No one should take Ponnala's comments seriously, he added.
