Varalakshmi Vratam celebrated at Tiruchanur Tiruchanur, 8 August: One of the most important Hindu festivals, Varalakshmi Vratam has been celebrated with grandeur in the abode of Goddess Padmavathi Devi at Tiruchanoor on Friday. Over five hundred couples took part in this mass Varalakshmi Vratam organised by TTD in Asthana Mandapam at temple town of Tiruchanur.
The priests recited Varalakshmi Ashtottaram and performed the Vratam by chanting the eight different forms of Goddess Lakshmi Devi including Sri (Wealth), Bhu (Earth), Sarasvati (learning), Priti (love), Kirti (Fame), Santi (Peace), Tushti(Pleasure) and Pushti(Strength) and sought Her blessings for the prosperity of humanity.
The mass vratam which started in the morning continued till noon on Friday and it was a spectacle for tens of thousands of devotess that converged to see the mightiness of one of the Consorts of Lord Venkateswara in dazzling jewels and colourful floral garlands and silk vastrams.
TTD chairman K Bapiraju, JEO Pola Bhaskar, Spl Gr DyEO Bhaskar Reddy, AEO Smt Nagarathana and others were also present. Later two Kankanams, Pasupu, Kumkuma, blouse and uttariyam have been distributed to the couples who took part in the Vratam.
