Report on AP Capital on Aug 27

HYDERABAD: The much awaited report of Sivaramakrishnan Committee, appointed to search a new capital for Andhra Pradesh, would be submitted to the Centre on August 27.

Speaking to reporters at the Assembly lobbies here, AP municipal administration minister P Narayana said the committee had almost finished its work and would be submitting the final report to the Centre on August 27.

Narayana disclosed that the state-level advisory committee under his leadership will visit Ahmedabad, Naya Raipur, Bhubaneshwar and Chandigarh to study the facilities and infrastructure available in these cities.

It is reported that AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu tried to know the opinion of the members of the committee on the formation of the capital between Vijayawada and Guntur cities.

The committee members have already visited cities like Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada and others till now. They held discussions with experts from various fields during their visits to these cities.

Meanwhile, AP panchayat raj minister Chintakayala Ayyannapatrudu said the state government was planning to set up an international airport at Atchutapuram in Visakhapatnam district.

He said that a technical committee had already visited the place and examined the possibility of setting up an international airport there.

The minister said the Navy was raising objections on the construction of the airport on the grounds of security. ''If the proposal at Atchutapuram does not materialise, we have another option at Bhimili where the government has enough land to construct an international airport,'' he said.

Endowments minister P Manikayala Rao said the new temple trust Boards, including the TTD will be appointed by the second week of September. He said there was no proposal from the government to create a specified trust board for TTD till the new board is set up.

He said the number of members in TTD will be enhanced to 18 from the present 15 members.

Last Budget Session in Hyderabad

AP Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao said the ongoing budget session of AP Assembly would be the AP Assembly's last Assembly session in Hyderabad.

'Some offices of the state government have already been shifted to Vijayawada and some are being shifted. Soon, the administration would start functioning from Vijayawada,' he added.
