Two GITAM students killed in road mishap in Vizag VISAKHAPATNAM: Two students of GITAM University were killed and another suffered injuries in a ghastly road mishap at Venkojipalem on the National Highway in the city late Saturday night.
The deceased were identified as Praveen Reddy (21) and Rohit (20), both natives of Warangal district and pursuing third year of MBA and BTech respectively at GITAM University. The injured has been identified as Anant Sairaj of Berhampur, Odisha.
He is undergoing treatment at a private hospital. The police said that the youngsters were riding triples on a bike to their friend's residence in MVP Colony late Saturday night when their vehicle hit a road divider and lost control, leading to the instantaneous death of two of them.
The impact was so severe that all three youth were scattered and passersby rushed to their rescue. Upon receiving the information, III-Town traffic police, led by SI Jyothi rushed to the spot and took up relief operations and diverted the traffic.
She also registered a case and handed over the bodies of the two students to their parents Sunday after post-mortem.
