Naidu turns focus on tourism development Hyderabad, Sept 19 (INN): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu said that the state's tourism projects be developed in a PPP or BOT mode.
In a review meeting held today at the CM Camp Office, he has asked officials to look for land to set up Shilparamams in every district headquarters and municipal corporations.
The Chief Minister said the government will build three mega convention centres at Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Tirupati and also promote beach tourism.
The Chief Minister added that spiritual tourism could be promoted through Art of Living and centres of Baba Ramdev apart from promoting boating from Rajahmundry to Suryalanka. He added that officials ensure local festivals are celebrated with fervour. He has asked them to promote Kuchipudi as a brand. Officials informed the Chief Minister that 10 PPP projects with Rs1,550 crore were underway.
Chandrababu Naidu emphasized that tourist guides be trained in communications and skills. He has asked officials to ensure that all the tourist destinations be hygienic and the Indian Institute of Travel and Tourism be made the best hospitality institute in India.
The Chief Minister launched a book entitled 'Temples of Andhra Pradesh, brought out by Tourism & Culture Department, Government of AP.
Special Secretary (Tourism & Culture) Chandana Khan, APTDC VC and MD KS Reddy, Commissioner of Tourism Sunil Kumar Gupta and other officials were present.
