BHEL to build two power projects in Telangana Hyderabad, Sept 23 (INN): To make the Telangana State, in the next three years, a power surplus State, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao at the request of BHEL Chairman and Managing Director BP Rao has agreed to give 800 MW at Kothagudem and 1080 MW at Manuguru to BHEL, a Government of India undertaking on EPC basis (Engineering Procurement and Construction).
The BHEL CMD, Director (Power) Atul Sobti and Executive Directors Gopalakrishnan and Sriram called on the Chief Minister on Tuesday at the State Secretariat.
The Chief Minister has also directed Telangana State GENCO CMD D Prabhakar Rao to ensure generation of 6000MW in the next three years to make the State Power surplus and if necessary by entrusting the projects on MoU to BHEL.
He said the execution has to be on time bound and targeted. CMD BHEL assured the Chief Minister to execute the projects of 1080 MW (4x270) within the next 24 months and the remaining within the next three years. Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister S Narsing Rao was also present in the meeting.
