KCR to flag off Bathukamma car today HYDERABAD: Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will flag off a specially-designed 'Bathukamma Car' here on Tuesday. The car, designed by Sudha Cars, will run across different parts of the twin cities till the conclusion of the Bathukamma and Dasara festivities. The route map is being prepared by the GHMC.
Municipal commissioner Somesh Kumar told that since the government had declared Bathukamma as a state festival, the idea of a moving Bathukamma vehicle came up and the corporation contacted K Sudhakar Yadav who is famous for designing 'quirky and wacky' vehicles. The GHMC has financed the designing.
Sudhakar, a Guinness record holder, said that it took nearly 10 days for him to design the Bathukamma Car. The flowers made of plastic and paper were brought from Mumbai.
A Bathukamma structure, 13.5 feet high and 10 feet wide, was put on the engine of an autorickshaw which can run to a speed of 40 km per hour. It has special LED lighting and is fitted with sound system to play Bathukamma songs.
