ELURU: The Vijayawada police took into custody Eluru One Town CI Muralikrishna and two constables for questioning in connection with the murder case of three persons of Pinakadimi at Peda Avutapalli. They are being interrogated. Reports said the CI would be produced in the Vijayawada commissionerate on Wednesday evening.
The role of police in the case came under scanner for various reasons which came to light. Two of the three slain persons at Peda Avutapalli on September 24 were accused in the murder of Durga Rao in April. They were living in Mumbai and made a fortune by practising astrology.
The slain persons attended the court in Eluru twice earlier in the Durga Rao murder case. Both the times the police provided security to the accused from the Gannavaram airport to the Eluru court and back. The CI had put the two constables on escort duty. On the day of the murder, the two constables were missing and the CI had also said that the accused were not provided security.
It is also alleged that the CI had received a hefty sum. Vijayawada commissioner of police Venkateswara Rao appointed a special team to probe the matter following which the CI and the two constables were taken into custody.
The driver of the victims' car surrendering at the Eluru One Town police station on the day of the murder is also giving rise to many queries. It is also alleged that the CI had met the family members of Durga Rao who are suspected to be behind the triple murder, on the D-day.
The special team is also focusing on the missing of the accused in the Durga Rao muder case from the Eluru rural police station.
