GHMC Mayor orders anti-larval operations in City Hyderabad, Oct 31 (INN): GHMC Mayor Mohammed Majid Hussain on Friday expressed concern over the rising number of communicable diseases in the city and directed GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar to take up anti-larva operations at massive scale besides launching awareness campaign.
The Mayor, along with GHMC Commissioner, held a joint review meeting with regard to various civic issues which are pending since long time. Some of them are in the process of implementation, but most of them have been sanctioned but not grounded. Reacting to such cases, the Commissioner and Zonal Commissioners have been directed to take up the works on priority basis. Such works include increase in number of sanitation units in all the division.
Majid Hussain also asked the Commissioner to launch the subsidized meal schemes in all 50 Centres in the city by March next year. With the launch of Rs 5/- per meal scheme in City Grandhalaya Samstha on Friday, the number of Centres has increased to 15. The Commissioner informed that 11 centres have already been identified and the Deputy Commissioners have been directed to identify the suitable locations for other centres in their circles.
GHMC floor leaders Singireddy Srinivas Reddy (TDP), Bangari Prakash (BJP), Wajid Hussain (Congress) and Mohd. Nazeeruddin (MIM), Special Commissioners Ahmed Babu, Zonal Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, Engineer-in-Chief, Chief Engineer and senior officials of the all the wings of the GHMC have participated in the review meeting.
