1,000 MW Solar Park to come up in Mahabubnagar Hyderabad, Nov 20 (INN): Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao informed the Telangana Legislative Assembly that a Solar Park with generation capacity of 1,000 MW is being established in Mahabubnagar district.
Replying to a question raised by MLA Ch Laxma Reddy and others during Question Hour, the minister said that the government has identified 5481.86 acres of land in Gattu mandal of Mahabubnagar district for location of the Solar Park.
Government is in the process of finalising the Master Plan with the assistance of Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), New Delhi. He said that the government would develop the required infrastructure in this Park. The Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) would provide Central financial assistance of Rs 20 lakh per MegaWatt for creation of infrastructure in the Solar Park.
Answering to supplementary questions asked by MLA DK Aruna, Y Anjaiah, G Balaraju and A Venkat Reddy, the minister said that steps were being taken to promote Solar pumpsets in the State.
He said that the Central Government has agreed to provide subsidy on 1500 Solar pumpsets and Telangana Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy wrote a letter to the Centre seeking subsidy of 20,000 pumpsets. He said that the State Government would provide Rs 1 lakh subsidy for all the Solar pumpsets.
