AP Assembly pays tributes to Tirupati MLA Hyderabad, Dec 18 (INN): The Andhra Prdaesh State Legislative Assembly on Thursday paid rich tributes to Tirupati MLA M Venkata Ramana who passed away on December 15. The Assembly also paid homage to children who were killed in terrorist attack in Peshawar.
Moving the condolence motion, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu described Venkataramana's death as a huge loss not only for the people of Tirupathi, but also for TDP and entire State. He said Venkata Ramana, who began his political career as a municipal Councillor, became TUDA Chairman, TTD ex-officio member and got elected as MLA twice.
He was quite concerned about the development of Tirupati and wanted the temple to be a mega city. He made strenuous efforts to serve the people of his constituency. He was also a good artist and also acted in some movies, the Chief Minister said.
Naidu expressed his deep condolences to members of Venkata Ramana and assured that the State Government would fulfill the unrealised dreams of Venkata Ramana.
Speaking on the condolence motion, Leader of the Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy recalled that Venkata Ramana was elected as Congress MLA under the leadership of his late father Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy. He expressed regret that the Chief Minister did not take Venkata Ramana to Singapore along with his corporate friends during his recent visit.
Stating that Venkata Ramana wanted to go to Singapore for treatment of his heart ailment, he said he was not keeping well even during the last Assembly session. He conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members.
Minister Palle Raghunath Reddy, TDP MLAs Uma Maheshwar Rao and Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy also spoke. The AP Assembly also paid homage to the children and others who were killed in brutal terrorist attack on an Army school in Peshawar.
The House observed two-minute silence as a mark of respect. Later, Assembly Speaker Dr Kodela Sivaprasad Rao adjourned the House till Friday.
