4G services to be rolled out in AP by April 2015 Hyderabad, Dec 19 (INN): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed Reliance executives to study the feasibility of 4G services in the state and roll them out by April 2015.
Reliance executives Rajiv Luthra and Raghu Raja met Chief Minister at Secretariat on Friday and informed him that Reliance has 502 cell phone towers in the State.
They requested the Chief Minister to grant them permission to upgrade these cell phone towers to 4G. Following this, the Chief Minister directed DGP J.V. Ramudu to ensure the required permissions are granted.
Stating that the 4G services would play a crucial role in creating a smart Andhra Pradesh, the Chief Minister said 4G services will initially be provided in all hospitals, educational institutions.
He added that the state's police could also use 4G services to bring down the crime rate in the State. He added that the 4G services will be rolled out in a phased manner in three phases. He added that the first phase would cover all municipalities and directed Reliance executives to ensure that the services begin by April 1, 2015.
Chief Secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao, DGP J.V. Ramudu, Additional DG (Intelligence) A.R. Anuradha and other officials were present at the meeting.
