BJP seeks Centre's intervention on closure of Army roads Hyderabad, Dec 21 (INN): The Telangana unit of Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday sought the intervention of Central Government to revoke the decision of Army authorities to close its roads in Secunderabad area from January 1.
In a memorandum submitted to Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu, BJP floor leader Dr K Lakshman informed that the Army authorities have taken a decision to close all the nine roads in Secunerabad Cantonment area from January 1st onwards for the general public.
"The local residents and citizens of Hyderabad will be put to lot of inconvenience and will face unforeseen problems with the decision taken by the Army. I, therefore, request you to initiate necessary steps and put a word with the Ministry of Defence to revoke the decision and help the local people in this issue," he told Venkaiah Naidu.
In response, Venkaiah Naidu has assured to take up the matter and said he already spoke to Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on this issue.
