Vanpic likely to lose land allotments HYDERABAD: In a major development, the Andhra Pradesh Cabinet sub-committee recommended the cancellation of allotment of lands to the Lepakshi Knowledge Hub (LKH) project in Anantapur district and Vadarevu and Nizampatnam Industrial Corridor (VANPIC).
The sub-committee comprising finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, health minister Kamineni Srinivas, labour minister K Atchannaidu and IT minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy, which met here to review corrupt practices in the allotment of lands and other properties in the past 10 years of the Congress rule, recommended the cancellation of these two projects.
It also decided to look into the liquor scam that surfaced in 2012 in which several ministers in the erstwhile N Kiran Kumar Reddy's cabinet, including Botcha Satyanarayana faced charges.
Palle Raghunatha Reddy told mediapersons later that the Cabinet sub-committee came to the conclusion that LKH and Vanpic management got the land through quid pro quo process. 'The final decision on the issue would be taken in the cabinet meeting scheduled for February 2,'' he said.
He said the sub-committee has decided to take steps repossess 8,844 acres of land given to the LKH and 13,000 acres to Vanpic.
The land, including 5,000 acres of DKT land and another 3,000 acres was given to the company management at throwaway prices and the company had pledged the land to raise `800 crore from various banks in violation of conditions, he pointed out.
Similarly, Vanpic also violated all the norms to acquire land and looted public money, he alleged.
