GHMC chief inspects housing works Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer Somesh Kumar on Friday inspected the works on weaker section housing at the IDH Colony at Bhoiguda. The houses are being constructed under the innovative housing scheme of two bed rooms, kitchen, hall, toilets on 580 Sq Ft. They are being constructed by the GHMC as per the directions of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao who have announced on 3rd October, 2014, that the project would be completed within a span of six months.
The Special Officer informed that there of 33 blocks, works have been started on 31 blocks. He said that a total of 396 flats would be completed in a stipulated time. He further directed the officials to take up one model house which has to be completed within 10 days. He said that the model house would be exhibited to the citizens to give a broader picture of the innovative housing scheme. Similar housing schemes would also be taken up in other slums.
Somesh Kumar said that besides construction, works on electricity, drinking water lines and other basic civic amenities too were being taken up on priority. He directed the officials to maintain quality and personally monitor the works on daily basis. The GHMC chief said that the GHMC was having around 1400 slums where GHMC is planning to implement the same innovative scheme in the coming days.
Additional Commissioner (Housing) Gaurav Uppal, Engineer-in-Chief Dhan Singh, Zonal Commissioner (North) Arichandana Dasari and senior officials from the Engineering wing have participated in the inspection.
