AP's stringent steps to conserve energy Hyderabad, March 28 (INN): In order to provide much more better services to the consumers in general and to prevent wastage of power, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is very keen to involve the entire government machinery for taking up of proactive role in Energy Efficient & Energy Conservation programmes for the benefit of the state, as well as all stake holders in particular.
In tune with the objective of the Chief Minister, State Energy Conservation Mission (SECM) is all set to adopt integrated approach to implement the comprehensive action plan to achieve substantial energy savings through effective energy conservation and efficiency programmes duly involving all key departments which ultimately paves way for realising targeted energy savings as well as passing financial benefit to the electricity consumers in the form of reduction in power bills, said Chief Secretary Dr IYR Krishna Rao.
As part of this, the State Government moots for stringent steps on energy conservation programmes during High Level SECM Meet (General Body) on 30th March (Monday) at 12 :30 PM chaired by Dr.IYR Krishna Rao, CS & Chairperson/ SECM involving various departments such as Energy, Municipal Administration & Urban Development, Agriculture, Industries & IT, Panchayat Raj, School Education, etc., to devise measurable and sustainable goals with suitable action plan. In view of the SECM General Body meet, CS, who has discussed several issues for expediting the ongoing energy conservation & efficiency programmes with Ajay Jain, Secretary, Energy & I&I, K. Vijayanand, MD, APGENCO & CMD/APTRANSCO (FAC), said that economical use of electricity plays a pivotal role for effective implementation of 24 X 7 scheme and sustainability of power sector.
The proposed agenda for the meeting of SECM Society includes, review of the ongoing Energy Conservation & Energy Efficiency (EC&EE) programmes such as DSM based Efficient Lighting Program (DELP), replacement of inefficient Street Lights with LED street lighting, replacement of inefficient Agricultural pumpsets with energy efficient pumpsets, engaging of third party agency by the DISCOMs for annual monitoring of energy savings in DELP programme. Working out the modalities Implementation of Energy Conservation Building (ECB) Code and other related topics Status of proposed Government Order for Energy Conservation in Industries.
Ajay Jain, said that the SECM/ Govt of AP is expecting 617 Million Units (MU) (61.7 Crores units) of energy savings per annum through the pilot projects of DELP and street lighting as follows and planned to extend the scheme to entire AP.
