Cabinet sub-committee meet on corruption Hyderabad, April 23 (INN): The cabinet sub-committee constituted for curbing corruption and protecting public money met at Secretariat.
In a meeting headed by state finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, the Group of Ministers (GoM) reviewed the discrepancies that took place in the land allotment of Nagarjuna Thermal Power Plant in Srikakulam district.
In this regard, Minister Acchan Naidu suggested the committee to bring these lands under government's control. He also directed officials to submit their report in the next GoM meeting.
The GoM was also informed about the violations in Kannedhara Mining lease. The officials brought to the committee's notice that the lease was given to former Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao's son against the interests of tribals living in the hilly region. They informed the ministers that a No-Objection Certificate was issued violating revenue norms. The GoM directed the officials concerned to take immediate action in this regard.
The committee has also discussed cases of illegal possession of government land in Srikakulam district. The issue of illegal possession of 27 acres of land in Pedapadu too came up during the meeting.
Excise commissioner and officials submitted their review report on the liquor cases. The GoM directed the officials to prepare a full-fledged report on these cases and present it in the next meeting.
The officials also informed the cabinet sub-committee about illegal liquor business, which is creating huge loss for the state's exchequer.
The GoM was also informed about the loss the state government incurred due to sand mafia. The officials informed the ministers that over Rs 10,000 crore were lost due to this illegal business. The ministers emphasized revamping the sand policy in order to make sand reach the end-user without any hassles.
The group of ministers also sought a report on the irregularities in the construction of houses. They directed the officials to streamline and identify beneficiaries using Aadhar linking and geo-tagging.
Ministers Acchan Naidu, Kamineni Srinivas, State Planning Board Vice Chairman Kutumba Rao, APIIC Chairman P. Krishnaiah and others were present.
