Indo-Global Healthcare Summit in Hyderabad Hyderabad, April 25 (INN): The Indo-Global Healthcare Summit & Expo 2015, on the theme innovations and advances, will be held at Marigold Hotel and Green Park Hotel in Hyderabad, from July 23 to 26th. It will be jointly organised by the Federation of the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce & Industry, the OMICS Group, and the Indus Foundation.
Speaking on the curtain press Conference organised here in city on Saturday, Dr. Kakarla Subba Rao, Director Emeritus, Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences, said Health is different from Medicine. 'When you have a pain you go to doctor and doctor gives you medicine. Pain is a health issue and Medication is Medicine that alleviates suffering. Our governments don't understand what health is. There are three aspects of Medicine. One is service, two is education and three is Research. Research is in the bottom of the priorities of our successive governments in India. Governments don't encourage Research. Individuals don't carry out research since government doesn't give them incentives,' said Dr. Kakarla Subbaro

Even so, nearly one million Indians die every year due to inadequate healthcare facilities and 700 million people have no access to specialist care. 80% of specialists live in urban areas.
Even on manpower front too, India would require investments of up to US$ 20 billion over the next 5 years to reach world standards. Currently, we produce 250,000 doctors annually in the modern system of medicine. A higher number of nurses and para-medical professionals and practitioners of Indian Systems of Medicine and Homoeopathy are also produced. But, manpower shortage will remain for several years to come.
