Satish leading, Laxmi won in New York Boston, USA: Telugu Association of North America (TANA) Elections created a lot of tension and anxiety among the NRIs in North America over the last one month. Contesting candidates campaigned heavily as if it is Assembly or Parliament elections in India.
Vote counting process started on Saturday afternoon in Boston.
For the post of Executive Vice President, who will automatically become President two years later, Ram Yalamanchili from Dallas, Texas and Satish Vemana from Northern Virginia contested.
As of 5:30 PM Eastern Time on Saturday or 3 AM early morning on Sunday as per India time, Satish Vemana is leading with a lot of majority. The election seems to be almost one sided.
The much awaited Regional vice presidential election for New York and New Jersey region was won by Laxmi Devineni. Vidyadhar Garapati lost the election in a tough fight.
Similarly Sivaram won Regional Vice President post for the North region and SK Vemuri won for the West.
Other results are awaited and the counting is still going on.
