Adhere to safety schedules: SCR GM Hyderabad, April 28 (INN): South Central Railway General Manager PK Srivastava held a high level Safety Review Meeting through Video Conference with the Divisional Railway Managers (DRM's) of all the six divisions on SCR viz., Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntur, Guntakal and Nanded Divisions & Principal Heads of Departments (PHODs) on Tuesday at Rail Nilayam in Secunderabad.
Srivastava appreciated the entire team of officers and staff involved in train operations for ensuring reduction in yard derailments, weld failures, rail breakage failures etc. on the Zone. He cautioned that there shall be no complacency in the aspect of rail safety and stated that there would be 'Zero Tolerance' on the matter.
The General Manager stated that the Safety schedules shall strictly be maintained so as to keep the rail assets including rolling stock in fine fettle. The incidents of fire in stabled coaches shall be stopped by ensuring that a stabled coach is kept in locked condition so as to prevent trespassers and a probable mishap. He directed the DRMs to initiate measures in this direction. He also issued a long of initiatives to be taken to ensure safety.
Earlier, Srivastava presented a cash award to a Technician of Secunderabad Division, E. Narsing Rao, for his devotion to duty in ensuring safety of train movement. The Senior Technician while conducting rolling in examination at Secunderabad Railway Station detected a Hot Axle in the Train No. 12026 Pune ' Secunderabad Shatabdi Express. He immediately acted upon to rectify the defect, thereby helped averting the unsafe condition for the train .
The DRM's appraised the General Manager on the details pertaining to safety on their respective Divisions, measures being undertaken on the Safety matters, follow up action etc., S.P Sahu, Chief Safety Officer, SCR made a Power Point Presentation on Safety.
