TS Govt to reward informers Hyderabad, May 26 (INN): In order to track the evaders of Commercial Tax, the Telangana Government has decided to introduce rewards system for informers.
As per the new system, the State Government would pay 10 % of the additional revenue resulting out of the information furnished by the informer, subject to maximum of Rs 50,000/. The decision was taken following a recommendation made by the Commissioner of Commercial Taxes stating that there was a need to detect cases where traders suppresses their sales and evade payment of VAT / CST, etc., to the government. He had mentioned that the existing machinery alone was not sufficient to detect large number of such cases which are affecting the resources of the government. He had recommended introduction of a scheme to reward the informers which may lead to unearthing of such cases resulting in increasing of revenue of the State of Telangana.
The government has also approved the procedure laid out for administering rewards to the informers for utilisation of the money.
